There was a fall on Wall Street, which
left most people feeling poorer than usual, most everyone except
Rosedale and Bry. Because Rosedale is still rich, he is getting more
popular, but he still likes having Lily with him. Now that the
holidays are over, it is time for the real social season. Mrs
Peniston invites Jack and Gwen over for dinner, now that they are
back from their honey moon. She also invites Grace, one of her
friends who is normally socially ignored. However, Lily convinces her
to change her mind and retracts the invitation. Grace is enraged and
begins to want revenge. She goes to Mrs Peniston and starts spreading
the rumors about Lily and Gus. Mrs Peniston didn't believe it because
she paid Lily's expenses, until Grace mentioned Lily's gambling
debts. This made Mrs Peniston very uncomfortable, and while she still
didn't believe the rumors, she still didn't like the implications.
